Previous Employment

Student Beans

Front end engineer - September 2018 - present

At Student Beans, I work on the front end products, which all use React. Our philosophy is to create reusable components that are clean and easy for other developers to read.

I've gained experience mentoring many members of the front end engineering team which has involved onboarding new members of varying experience. For entry level members that join, I have taken part in shadowing which involves new team members pairing with me to get familiar with our projects and ways of working to ease them in to the business. Mentoring involves helping develop members of our team and raise any issues or concerns with the head of front end and head of engineering.

HIDR Media

Front end engineer - May 2016 - September 2018

At HIDR Media, I worked on various products in the Estate Agency sector. I was the only front end developer and worked on the main web app for a product designed to take care of a large portion of the onboarding for an estate agency. I also worked on creating a CMS to manage clients.

The projects at HIDR media all involved working with React which I picked up first at HIDR and learned along with developing their agency site. I learned a lot about React's principles during my time at HIDR.

Whisk

Front end engineer - October 2012 - March 2016

At Whisk, I worked on the main web application for helping users manage their shopping based on recipes.

Initially the product was written as a Rails app and then switched to using Angular for the front end. This was my introduction to single page application JavaScript frameworks.

White Room Creative

Front end engineer - December 2010 - October 2012

White Room Creative was the second marketing agency I had worked for and the one where I gained most of my early experience in building websites. The nature of the business meant that I needed to turn around many designs in quick succession. Because I was working on so many different site designs, I quickly became proficient in CSS as I had to solve plenty of problems when designs weren't straight forward, and solving these problems became a large part of my job.

3i Media

Front end engineer - June 2010 - December 2010

3i-Media was my first job out of university. They were a marketing agency largely making sites for clients using WordPress and Joomla. In my short time at 3i-Media, I was involved in developing many sites for all kinds of different clients.
